The extraordinary cellist Yo-Yo Ma was interviewed for the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, May 2007 issue. His Silk Road Project that has brought many wonderful programs to Chicago was mentioned. There were a few good Yo-Yo Ma tourism quotes in the article:

"In music and in travel, you have to be a participant, not just a consumer. It enlarges your view of the human family."

In response to "Is there a common language, other than music?"

"Absolutely. There is the language of hospitality, a secular sense of honoring one another. We can meet as strangers, but we can share respect and dignity."

Wishing you safe and happy travels.

Happy new year For all of you Laughing
may the coming year show you that every day is really a first day,
a new year. May mirth be near you always, like a lamp shining brightly
on the many paths you travel.

I wish you all a very happy and satisfying 2008.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could replace all guns with cameras? You could still shoot as many people as you or your government wished, but with totally different consequences.

Make photo safaris not war should be our motto!

Mark Twain in 1867

“TRAVEL IS FATAL TO PREJUDICE, BIGOTRY AND NARROW-MINDEDNESS AND MANY OF OUR PEOPLE NEED IT SORELY ON THOSE ACCOUNTS. BROAD, WHOLESOME, CHARITABLE VIEWS OF MEN AND THINGS CANNOT BE ACQUIRED BY VEGETATING IN ONE LITTLE CORNER OF THE EARTH ALL ONE'S LIFETIME."
